Ouray County

RE-ELECT LYNN PADGETT OURAY COUNTY COMMISSIONER, DISTRICT 1

I know from experience as an active community member and parent that truly, “There is no better place to live, work, play, or raise a family than Ouray County.” Since moving here in 1999 I have been committed to community life and making a positive impact.

My Background:

  • Full-time Ouray County Resident since 1999. I followed my passions for the outdoors and geology here but chose to make Ouray County home because of the vibrant multi-generational community culture with incredible people and eclectic small businesses.
  • Celebrating over 24 years of living with a low-carbon footprint off-grid in a solar-powered home on Log Hill Mesa. I am proud that my kids grew up knowing where and when their power and water came from, and from having to responsibly plan for challenging weather conditions on unmaintained roads.
  • Proud Ouray County parent. My kids are Ouray County natives, raised on Log Hill Mesa. Anza and Cutler are Ridgway High School Graduates (Anza, Class of 2020; Cutler, Class of 2022).
  • First-hand experience with navigating housing, health care, child care, commuting, and the high cost of living while raising kids in Ouray County. While these challenges are common throughout the state and the nation, Ouray County’s winter season and year-round physical remoteness create extra burdens for working parents and seniors that need creative solutions.
  • Community volunteer. Besides working full-time, I have been deeply involved in the community. My service as an Ouray County Planning Commissioner, youth soccer coach, and on numerous boards and committees is a reflection of my commitment to the community and my desire to contribute to positive outcomes.
  • Dedicated public servant with rural local government experience. I have 16 years of local government experience as a Ouray County Commissioner and former Director of Government Affairs and Natural Resources. I have 10 years of interdisciplinary consulting experience as a geologist, hydrologist, and GIS specialist. Since 2009, I have also coordinated the Colorado Data Sharing Network, which has publicly shared water quality and watershed data.
  • Outdoor recreationist and conservationist. Besides studying our geology and botany in remote areas of Ouray County, I also love hiking, biking, x-country skiing, paddle boarding, jeeping, fishing, photography, dark skies, and live music.
  • Life-long learner. BA, Geology, Colorado Western University. MPA, Public Administration, Harvard Kennedy School. Public Leadership Credential and Executive Certificate, Concentration in Public Leadership, Harvard Kennedy School. Fellowships: National Renewable Energy Laboratory Energy Executive Leadership Program, Gates Family Foundation Public Leadership, and American Council of Young Political Leadership Delegate.
