Ouray County

RE-ELECT LYNN PADGETT OURAY COUNTY COMMISSIONER, DISTRICT 1

Protecting our rural values and quality of life.

Civil discourse and debate are essential for a healthy democracy. Most Ouray County citizens want a small, responsive, efficient, accountable, and transparent county government that leads with common sense and civility. It only takes two Commissioners to change Ouray County's trajectory and put special interests ahead of the greater good.

My North Star:

County Government must be "REAL" - Responsive, Efficient, Accountable, and Local.

My vision and why I'm running for County Commissioner:

I want to be your County Commissioner because I care about our County's future and understand why we live, work, and play in Ouray County. Our taxpayers deserve hard-working and dedicated leaders who are informed, responsive, and fair.

We should continue to strengthen our economic opportunities in HARMONY WITH THE UNIQUE BEAUTY AND STRENTHS OF OURAY COUNTY. I want to continue to work to protect our CLEAN AIR, secure and enhance our WATER RESOURCES, protect our ALPINE HIGH COUNTRY and SNOWPACK, and preserve our DARK SKIES by improving the tools to accomplish our vision and goals in our updated Master Plan.

I want to strengthen partnerships and resources to increase the supply of affordable HOUSING, CHILD CARE, and BROADBAND for our working community members. I want to encourage having a variety of local and accessible BEHAVIORAL HEALTH services. I want to ensure public policy provides mutual benefits and opportunities -- the growth of one economic sector should not harm others or negatively impact our communities or environment.

I want to continue to protect our historic PUBLIC ACCESS ROUTES to our public lands and private property rights with collaboration, which requires due diligence and partnership. Half of Ouray County is federal public lands - I want to continue to be the strong voice advocating for appropriate resource protections and multiple uses so that BLM and U.S. FOREST SERVICE PLANS manage federal lands in alignment with our local needs as gateway communities.

I hope to continue to be your liaison to your government agencies so we can STREAMLINE PROCESSES and SOLVE PROBLEMS TOGETHER.
